Neighbour Day was a great success in Canyon Meadows on June 17, 2017. You know you have a good turn out when you’ve provided the same amount of food as previous years but ran out shortly after the first hour! Thanks to all our guests for your patience while we had to restock. The estimated attendance was 300+ friendly neighbours including our Councillor Dianne Colley-Urquhart and our MP Bob Benzen.
It was my first year organizing this event and I’m grateful for the support from previous organizer Kathy Nagel, plus Bonnie our resourceful Hall Manager and a great group of volunteers, some well-seasoned and some brand new. I love to see how eagerly everyone worked together. A special mention to: Shannen and her Girl Guides for supervising the inflatables, MadScience and Brix 4 Kidz for displaying their cool concepts for summer camps offered at our hall this summer, Prairie Winds Square Dance Club for creating a festive atmosphere, and The City of Calgary for supplying 2 leaders and fun games.
We are so grateful for our event sponsors: Krista and Mike Kehoe, from RE/MAX First (who are also brilliant on the grill!), Canyon Meadows Auto Service, Sylvia Smith, from Royal LePage Solutions, Richard Gotfried, MLA, Paul Baraniuk, from State Farm Insurance, Fade Master Barbershop and Stan and Heather at Canyon Meadows Bakery.
And the list goes on! A big thank you to our door prize sponsors: Michael Richmond from CIBC supplied the ingenious scavenger hunt and CIBC piggy banks, mugs, etc. Brix 4 Kidz supplied an exciting half day summer camp for some lucky child, and we were pleased to raffle off more useful goodies from Austins, Mucky Pups, The City of Calgary, Tom & Joanne Pay, Dr. David J Chung, from Canyon Creek Dental Clinic, Beitel Bros. Liquor, and 2 A.M. Liquor Co Inc.
Thanks to all for your generous support and to our guests for coming out. Please forward your comments or suggestions to info@cmca.ca.
