Purple Day
March is Epilepsy Awareness Month in Canada and every March 26th marks Purple Day, when landmarks and buildings across Calgary, Southern Alberta, and Canada will be lit purple to raise awareness for epilepsy. This year Canyon Meadows Community Association will join the festivities to help support those living with epilepsy and help reduce the stigma associated with epilepsy. Wear your favourite purple clothing and accessories and join us for this event half way through Spring Break for the following:
- – Concession – purple cupcakes!
- – Purple balloons
- – Purple gemstone lighting
- – Board games, glitter tattoos in the Rink Room
- – Scavenger hunt, skip rope, sidewalk chalk, basketball, soccer outside
- – Our Business Partner the Ukrainian Bakery (next to Tempo Gas) will be creating amazing purple themed treats!
Epilepsy Information
When someone has a seizure, a discharge of excessive electrical activity in the brain affects how a person feels, thinks, and behaves. The symptoms range from mild to debilitating and can last anywhere from seconds to minutes. Epilepsy Calgary offers programs, support services and advocacy to anyone affected by epilepsy.
