Spill the Beans
The CMCA is happy to host this FREE presentation for our residents. Spill the Beans is a workshop presented by Green Calgary which aims to help residents of Calgary make their food last longer by offering food storage tips and ways to reinvent leftovers! It is aimed to help people save money on groceries while helping the planet by reducing food waste. Grab a friend or neighbour and join us for a chat and refreshments. Connection between food waste and climate change, why food is wasted, how we can make our food ‘go the distance’, meal planning, food preservation and storage, using food leftover, understanding food labels, and accessible food options within Calgary.
Target Audience
Homeowners, Community Associations, and Newcomers to Calgary.
Format
In-person for 1 hour total = 45 mins content + 15 mins for questions/discussion
Success Stories
This year (2024), they have completed presentations for several local organizations including Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA), Mustard Seed, Varsity Community Association, Milican Ogden Community Association, Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association, Huntington Hills Community Association, Women’s Center of Calgary, Woodcreek Community Club, etc.
Funding
The Spill the Beans program has been fully funded by the City of Calgary and University of Calgary so that they can offer free presentations to those who are interested.
